A Little Help (CD burning)

gladtobeaglenn Permalink
gladtobeaglenn I am running into a problem burning discs. I'm running Windows 7 on a pc (Dell). I got a new computer about 6 months ago - I used to be able to burn discs on my old computer using Roxio and converting FLAC files to WAV using the FLAC frontend converter. Now, when I dl shows from E-Tree (like the Charlie Miller AUDS), i'm not able to burn the disc! I don't know why, and it's driving me crazy! I tried everything, no luck. Any help is appreciated. Thanx!
p.s. I'm using Windows Media Player to burn, cause this computer didn't come with the Roxio software.
What the @#$% am I doing wrong?!

spaced Can you be more specific? Is it giving you some kind of error message, or are the CDs just coming out unplayable?

EDIT: also, have you been able to burn other types of CDs? Is it just stuff from etree that you are having problems with or is it burning CDs in general?

daveritz18 I think you need to use Trader's Little Helper to convert Flac files on Window's 7-- And you can then convert the Flac files to wav. and burn on Itunes or some other---When I got my new computer w/Windows 7 a few years ago, I found out that Flac Frontend isn't compatable- Try Trader's Little Helper

gladtobeaglenn Actually, I am able to burn discs from the Media Player library. So, like all the shows I got from the LivePhish (from the ticket codes), which are in that library, burn. It's just not working with all the other shows that aren't in the Media Player Library. So, I guess I have to figure out how to get the other shows i download into the Media Player library?

spaced Sounds like Windows Media Player doesn't want to burn anything that's not in its media library. Typical Microsoft. You can always just use a different cd burning program. There are plenty of free ones out there. BurnAware Free looks pretty user-friendly; I've never tried it, but the reviews look pretty good, and it supports FLAC.

cjfphan21 I wouldn't even go through the trouble of converting and adding to your library just to burn. I use this free program to burn straight from flac. Works like a charm.

gladtobeaglenn Thanks! I came to the same conclusion regarding Windows too. I'll try BurnAware.
