They are playing in chicago next week and I think I might go. I've never listened to them though. Can anyone recommend me something to listen to?
Thanks

well I like moe.
you need to make the decision on your own maaaaaan.
/trolling. moe. is great they have a ton of awesome stuff on the archive. Check out: Roseland Ballroom show from 2005 - has Trey, Medeski, Sam Bush all over the entire show
NYE 2007 Matrix GREAT quality!
'95 Show from the wetlands - another SBD + AUD Matrix with great quality sound
should give you a good run down of their sound. They jam like hell and sometimes a little too long but you'll have a great time at the show. Saw them three times last year and every show was great. They're extremely talented and you can tell they are cool dudes too.
But listen to a Rebubula and then go buy a ticket and rage for me.
moe. is super fun. Definitely check them Out....
I enjoy moe. They had their Halloween show at the Ryman here in Nashville back in October and I had a good time. They put on a good show and have some good jams.
That being said I probably wouldn't go too out of my way to see a moe. show, but when they come to town I go to the show.

Which sounds like a burn, but puts them in pretty good company.
I've been a moe. fan for about 14 years now. They can definitely be hit and miss but when they are on they are one hell of a time. Here are some suggestions to start.

Great set from Allgood a couple of years ago. Rob (bass) has been quoted as saying it is one of his favorite sets.
http://archive.org/details/moe2002-06-22.mk4.shnf
6-22-02 Late Night Roo: Widely considered one of there better shows with great sit ins by Kang, Robert Randolph, Bayliss and some Biscuits.
http://archive.org/details/moe2007-05-26.flac16
Summercamp 07': Fantastic show. Tightly played 1st set and the 2nd set is a heater with Allie Kral on Fiddle but definitely not bluegrassy.
Hope this helps and I hope you have a great time!

They are pretty good.I hate to disagree, but the extent of my "Jam Knowledge" is most likely what has spawned these feelings.

If I had to put them down in one way it would be the fact that Chuck was visually seducing a girl that was for sure Asking For It on the rail right in front of me at the last show in Denver.
If I had to say what I like most about the band it would be their diverse performance style put on during shows, along with a slight comedic value (similar to phish's but very unique).
I consider myself quite a Moe.ron to be honest. See them with ever chance I get.
That is how my friend described moe. I do agree...

"No Doy" is worth a listen.
This was the only moe. show I ever caught, but it was definitely a scorcher.

They are pretty good.I get your point bhr I think I must disagree. What is an A-Grade Jam Band? Who is on that list? This is all perspective and completely subjective but I think moe. Is one of the best jam bands out there. They bring all the elements and have been around for a long time. Are they on the same level as Phish? Of course not. No one is. Does that fact make them a B-Grade jam band? IMO no.

I guess I really need to take my inquiry to the Jam Band Grading Board and see what they have to say. I fear their grading system may be over influenced by kickbacks. I guess I'll just go straight to my congressman instead.
yeah theres this song... by them... Recreational Chemistry?
check it.
check it.
