That "retarded psycho savage" LBJ sigbed the civil rights and voting rights act along with medicare. Vietnam was a fiasco and he deserves plenty of blame, but there is ZERO evidence kennedy had any intention of withdrawing from Vietnam. Tbats pure fantasy dreamed up by apologist.Well Kennedy was probably the best at cheating on his wife?
And we were robbed of Bobby Kennedy. Would he have won in 68?

I don't think Kennedy would have won in '68. The country was already beginning to move to the right by then. I still think Nixon wins a squeaker
Japan was never going to surrender - citizens were prepared to blow themselves up jihad style if it came to it. In order to end WWII, the United States was going to have to invade Tokyo. We would have certainly won, but it would have cost another million US servicemen. Instead, Truman dropped two A-bombs and yes killed innocents, but the alternative was much more carnage on both sides. Truman did not escalate the Cold War - he likely saved everyone from another world war when he called MacArthur back from the border of China and fired his ass (that took balls as MacArthur was beloved). As for the USSR, they were looking for total world domination no matter what Truman did. So, he did his best to contain and compete. Truman was a liberal. Not a Pelosi-style left wing irrational type, but actually much like Clinton. Sort of center left. Truman was despised at the time, but historians generally agree that he is top ten material of all time.
