Ever thought of Phish playing halftime?

Obviously the light show would be amazing. A great Chalk Dust would probably take up all the time allotted (I think it was 12 minutes long this year).

the_Crested_Hogchoker Permalink
the_Crested_Hogchoker I'm pretty sure you have to fake it to play halftime because of the short amount of time allowed for set up.

I wouldn't want my favorite band participating in extraneous cheesey corporate wanker festival super bowl festivities. I also wouldn't want to have to endure the heightened media attention on the scene.

paddycabes Permalink
paddycabes We were joking about this last night as the lights went down.."Ladies and Gentlemen, there's been a slight change in the halftime entertainment. Would you please welcome to the stage...Phish!" And then the opening notes of Tweezer begin as the 2 phans that are present in the crowd go nuts.

runawayJame not necessarily Phish, but bands from the representative teams' cities.

Cue last night being Furthur, maybe CCR, JOURNEY?!@? haha and I'm not sure of any bands from Baltimore.

the_Crested_Hogchoker We don't have shit from Baltimore since the Bridge broke up... a few generic funk and jamtronica bands. Deaf Scene is f***ing awesome, but I think they're working out a new drummer. Clutch is from around here, but who gives a f***.

OAR was probably the biggest thing here when I was growing up, and they kind of split their roots between MD and Ohio State. They're cheesey enough to do a halftime show probably.

OAR Isn't big enough to do a half time show. Not by a long shot, they have played in 2,000 seat college stadiums/venues for the past 15 years. They open for DMB.

As far as Phish, I don't like the idea. In fact I dislike the idea.

Beach House
Animal Collective

Wye Oak
Dan Deacon
Future Islands
Scottie B & Rod Lee (bmore club kings)

i dunno i know i am leaving some out. not really all my choice in music, just a list of bands from baltimore that have record deals and tour heavily on the national and international circuits....

oh and as far as phish playing halftime
i think it would be awesome at first
then it would get uncomfortable with all the non-phans groaning about how much they hate it
then it would be weird
plus with the limited time and the national audience us as phans aren't going to get the full phish experience we know is possible thus left unfulfilled
but i think phish would pull out some sort of inside joke for the phans to make it cool for us
in the end it's probably not a great idea but i have to admit i did fantasize about it a bit last night...
