Do you agree with its spot on the totem pole? Some of you may scream flawed, etc, but based on your opinion is it the 2nd the best show of 2012, and if not where does it rank for you, and what beats it? For me, I love the show but it hasn't settled in with me like the other shows from the summer. I still need to give 12-30 more listens, but as it sits now with me, I'd say its for sure in my top 5 of the year.2012 Ratings

I thought 12/30 was a very average show for the year. I could pretty easily choose 50% of this years shows that I think were better.

Signed. Several of the 26 shows I caught during 2012 I would place above this one. Oh yeah, no attendance bias. I was at 12/30 too
I think that 12/30 being rated the #2 show of 2012 couldn't be farther from the truth. A top 5 show of the year? MAYBE. Top 10 show? Definitely.

When comparing 4.5+ esque shows, sometimes I think people forget about the first sets. I think this is where 8/31, 9/1, and 7/6 really shine.
If you ignore first sets, like most seem to do (unfairly, IMO) then I think 12/30, 9/2, and 8/19 have stronger cases.

I think the presence of Carini along with DWD makes it an above average show for the year for sure. That being said, I put BGCA 3 above it for sure, and probably Dick's 3 as well. But it's definitely top 5 guys. This show had a vibe that I totally did not expect when the lights went down. Darkness, and then incredibly triumphant with Slave and Hood. It may not be my favorite show, but if it's overrated it's only slightly. Just my .02 cents. I'll also use this thread to draw attention to the fact that 12.28 is a little bit underrated on this site. All IMO of course.

Actually, I take back the Dick's 3 statement. This show does it for me a little more than that one. Very, very, very close though.

12/28 is criminally underrated. I'd place it above 12/30 personally.

12/30 is my favorite show of the run and in my opinion a top 3 show of 3.0Carini changed the way I look at Phish with all the tribal darkness
