The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
My issues I came across with my temporary disability and seeing the show worry free didn't come from the venue, it was because of other fans. I was disappointed as the show went on and more and more people showed up in the area. The small space was cramped by people who were not dancing like they had any kind of impairment. I spent a whole set with the crutches I used for the washroom set up around me in fear that the twirler beside me was going to fall on me. There was little consideration for me or the other person confined to a chair.
Just sharing so everyone can keep in mind that accessibilty and inclusion does not only need to be thought of by the venue but by ourselves and being aware of our surroundings
