And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Since we were in town, we decided to see Dead and Co on Halloween. My wife and I have seen a lot of GD shows. Dead and Co were painful. Oteil singing China Doll was the highlight-he should sing more. Bobby trying to sing Standing on the Moon was truly painful. The rest was pretty ho-hum. Ticket prices were not in line with the quality of the show. I'm truly amazed they can sell out MSG at those prices. It seemed the younger crowd that had never seen GD was impressed.
I was yelled at and cursed at for dancing and blocking the view from those behind me. WTF, yelled at for dancing at a (sort of) Dead show? All in all a real let down.
Highlights in NYC: Trey at Carnegie and David Byrnes American Utopia on Broadway--there's a guy that is not putting on a nostalgic act and is still creative and throwing down hard! I highly recommend seeing him if possible.
