The first part of this sentence invalidates the second part of this sentence. At least, for me.

The best Phish songs are the complicated technical compositions, so if Goose isn't even TRYING to do that, how could their songs be as good as the best Phish songs?

That don't make no sense, man.

So you're saying that technical compositions and good song writing are synonymous. I dont think thats true at all. Some of the greatest songs ever written could be played on guitar by a total novice... Dylan, Beetles, etc. Not really known for their long, technical composed prog sections.
