The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
I've been bitten by spiders a couple times where I've ended up with blood poisoning. The first time, they gave me a shot in the ass and it cleared right up.
The second time, I didn't have medical coverage. I went to the emergency room and they gave (I think) erithromycin. i took it for a week or so; finished the prescription. The day after I finished taking it I broke out in hives. This was the day before my medical coverage was supposed to kick in. I tried my damndest to ride it out. Finally I couldn't take the itching anymore and I drove to the emergency room at about 10:45 at night, hoping that it would be a bit before they processed me in so that I would be covered.
(This is where I tie it in with ivy's post) They gave me epinepherine to combat the hives. I've never rushed so hard in my life. It was like when I was a tweeker, only worse. It actually made me puke.
Wild, strong stuff.
Suite blawg, I know.
