The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Background:
Recently, I was able to convince a few of my closest friends (4 non-phans) to come to the gorge with me. This will be our first gathering since we graduated college 5 years ago because we all live in different parts of the country (LA, DC, Philly, Chicago). This is very exciting for me because my college buddies are congregating pretty much due to my love for phish (AT THE GORGE, no less).
One of them has been dragging his feet in getting a plane ticket and he isn't really able to afford it now, so i'm trying to see if there are alternate ways for him to still meet up with us at the gorge.
If anyone is driving from Chicago to the Gorge, please let me know and let's discuss to see if we can work out something. He'll be able to help out with gas $$, etc.
