The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.

"
I'm sorry what did this start?"

"The soundtrack album played a major part in popularizing reggae in the United States and the world beyond, the film itself preventing the genre from remaining an isolated phenomenon in Jamaica."
"
Wikipedia'd"
This Wikipedia article is just reporting a well-known fact regarding the history of reggae music and its popularization outside of Jamaica. Besides, there is a footnote documenting the source of this fact as Miller, Jim, ed. The Rolling Stone Illustrated Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll. New York: Random House, 1980, p. 447. So actually, this information is Rolling Stoned. "
I'm just giving you a hard time. Did 461 ocean Blvd come out before that soundtrack?
"
No. It came out in 1972, about a year before Burnin', which, presumably, introduced Clapton to I Shot the Sheriff, and about two years before 461 Ocean Blvd, which, of course, featured his cover. I think the movie didn't hit theaters until February of 1973. Bob Marley gets all the credit (deservedly so) for really putting reggae on the worldwide cultural map, but many ahead of the curve music fans first got hip to reggae through the Harder they Come film and/or soundtrack.
