The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.

"Fish is also a lot better now than he was in the late 90s. He's able to play a song and not just a pattern."
I don't agree with this at all. I'm not one for hyperbole, but Jon Fishman c. 1999-2004 may be the best rock and roll drumming of all times."
yeah I don't think fish is better in 3.0 than 1.0. hes gotten leaps better now than in 09 but he was a machine in 98-00. In addition, his kit wa much bigger then. It wasn't only till he stripped his kit down in 3.0 that he started to really improve. Remember the terr vid of him training? Ca. 2012?
"
I have heard several people express this opinion before you guys and I really don't get it. Fish might have played a little flashier in 1.0 but flashy does not mean better. I do agree that he hit a 1.0 peak in skill in 99-00, but I think he's far beyond that now. Please provide examples to back up your opinions.
I would also challenge you to listen to a couple 97 or 99 jams back to back with something like the Nashville Weekapaug or the 7/1/14 Hood. When I do this, the difference in Fish's playing is really noticeable. As I said before, in 1.0 he was playing a pattern. He was playing a set beat. Now, he can play lyrically along with the song and make space as needed for the other musicians. You can really hear how he's improved in the segues into Tweezer from last summer. Now, he can morph from one beat to a new one pretty seamlessly. In 1.0, he would have to stop completely and start the new pattern again. Like the transition from the 7/15/99 Jam into Bouncin.
"cypress dwd, Oswego Jim, Boise bag are all examples off the top of my head
I will say fish seems to know better know how to communicate with and anticipate where the other band members are going now. Yesterday I listened to the gorge RnR and fish's work was amazing. But he was more proficient with his instrument and had greater stamina in 98-00
"
Amsterdam Weekapaug is a prime example of Fish just owning beyond any level he can achieve right now. It's like there are two drummers.
