The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.

Impact on the planet??? If you could, please explain. "
Briefly, and possibly incorrect on the numerical details:
Cows, as we raise and feed them in modern America, eat so much more than they did originally, and store more methane. "Cow farts" have a ridiculously high rate of causing greenhouse gases. Like, higher than the rate at which people would laugh about cow farts.
So, the agricultural farming/cattle raising industry, insofar as it exists in present form (as opposed to free range, ethically raised yadda), is worse for the environment than cars. By a wide margin.
Growing and eating meat substitutes minimizes this.
Plus, a meat heavy diet is one of those cultural exports from America to the rest of the world. In Egypt, more of the people are poor, and they had raised wheat for a long time in the contemporary era. Over time, the rich Egyptians started eating meat and drinking cola, like we do over here, and so they raised less wheat for humans and used it to feed cows. Which is less efficient for feeding humans than giving them wheat. Or other grains.
It also has had side effects on water usage, irrigation from the Nile, etc. I wrote a paper for a journal a few years back on the role of the military and transnational capital in Egypt, and one of my sources discussed agricultural and economic/political interactions in the Egyptian state. And, eating a meat heavy diet has less than positive health effects.
So, in short, the production of meat (as done by massive corporations) is done in a way that is not the best for the planet, or for humans. "
Hmm. Well I eat a decent amount of meat, all farm grass and produce fed. So I guess I eat non negative planet effect meat. So I'm good! "
You do know that the whole cow producing methane effecting greenhouse gases thing is not legit right?!?"
Cow farts are funny.
Point is, animal agriculture is the biggest source of pollution.
