The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
It's just a hunch, and I don't speak for all women obviously, but I totally see this dynamic at shows. The whole atmosphere is supposed to be chill and about the music and community and stuff and so when shit happens, women are more likely to just ignore it or play it off etc. because to make a big deal about something would be super un-cool and you don't want to seem like you "can't hang." Again it gets back to the double standard of women being accused of being unreasonable and rude for standing up for themselves.
Anyways, my point here is that all the guys saying that their sister, girlfriend, friend has 100% never had a problem at a show, just be aware that you just might not have noticed it when it did happen because she didn't want you to notice. And I wonder if that culture makes it harder for women to ask for help from the men around them who would usually step in on their behalf.
