The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
A little side story: I had a ticket for 10/31/13, but unfortunately came down with a stomach parasite (that was the official diagnosis once I could actually get out of bed and get to a doctor) a couple days before the show and lost somewhere between ( -- no joke -- ) 27.5 & 30 pounds in just about 40 hours. It was horrendous and the most ill I've ever been, and I rarely get sick even in the slightest.
Hooked a friend up with that Halloween ticket. I've seen PHiSH plenty since then, but still haven't made it to a Halloween show.
Edit: Perhaps it was The Wook Flu (capitalization necessary) that I came dounwyth after those six shows in the first half of the tour.
