The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Seriously. I was visiting my girlfriend (who recently broke up with me because I lost my job; it's been a fine year) and was driving back in the fog. Some dude veered into my lane, hit me on the driver's side, spun me into another lane where I was hit by a second car. I realized I'd keep getting hit if I sat in the middle of the interstate in the fog, so I had to climb out of the driver's window and run to the median. It sucked. Somehow, I only ended up having a concussion and messed up shoulder.
I'm sorry to hear about your accident. It's the worst. And the mental trauma never fades. I forget it sometimes, but once in a while I will wake up in the middle of the night reliving the exact second of impact and then be unable to fall back asleep.
