The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
I work in the logistics industry. If you're willing to pay the money, you'd be surprised how things can get done, that you thought wouldn't happen. It's not impossible, if employees in the Phish organization are willing to put the work and effort into it. If the band wants it to happen, they could look into it. Given all the efforts they made to try and keep it this weekend over only a couple days, given a month they could pull something together. It's a long shot, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if it happens.
And just to note, I don't hold the band in any way responsible for the cancellation. Doing the phest in September would be a nice gesture though. They obviously wanted it to happen. Obviously not everyone that was planning to be there can be there, but I'm sure others would be able to take their place. There's plenty of money on the table for all. If 30,000 people all bought a $200 ticket, that's $6 million alone. Not even taking into account hotels packages, Glenn close, RV, and the camping passes. You think they want to send out $6 million+ dollars in refunds? That sounds like a cash flow problem to me, the accountants will be going crazy. You ever write a check that big?
