The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Skipped some relatively major events at the time to be here. I was at the point where my expectations weren’t based on enjoying the moment but hunting type 2 and it burned me at only this show and never since. I lost my mind during Roses and thought it had the makings for one of ‘those’ shows, but to my ear DWD never took off and then Sand got cut short into an admittedly hot segue into Nellie Kane, of all songs, and I got disheartened that the set would lose its flow. I was also behind the stage. Left feeling like I got kicked in the balls.
1. The show is really, really solid and the Roses jam is such a great 5 minutes of music (although a small piece of me wishes they kept pushing because it’s so good)
2. I downshifted my expectations and tried to focus on being present and surrendering to the flow from there on out. It’s done me wonders.
