The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Basically what I'm saying is that I don't see Phish inc. marketing it as a Phish festival. Phish fests have historically been ground up productions. The whole appeal is that it comes and it goes and is not something you can really recreate. Hosting the festival at an established venue like Lockn kinda takes the wind out of that whole vibe.
Phish 8 was held at same site as Coachella and Stagecoach but it's a little different being that Lockn farm is now primarily a music venue. Empire Polo Club leases out the land to Coachella and Stagecoach, kind of a different scenario.
