The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.

"Trying to book a room in advance...
If the Phish play MSG for NYE this year, what dates do you think they will play?
I’m thinking 4 days like usual (30th - 2nd) Th-Sun?
Is it fairly safe to walk to the close hotels after the show around MSG?
"
Hey man, it's actually a nightmare so when you win tickets in the lottery just give 'em to me. @handsNfeetRmangos said:

Buddy, unless you live in Beverly Hills or something referring to NYC as a garbage location is quite the stretch.
"
Yeah, I wanted to ask what exactly this meant, in earnest, but didn’t want to turn it into a whole thing. I know I tend to talk a lot about the city on here, but what an odd choice of words. I mean, midtown would never be my choice of places to hang out in, and do my best to avoid it - maybe that’s what he meant?"
I’ve been to wonderful cities all over this beautiful country, and I’ve been to New York enough times to realize it’s not one of them. It’s disgustingly dirty, people are super rude, it’s insanely overcrowded, the weather is terrible, the safety can be debated (I don’t think it’s particularly unsafe but it’s also not my first choice of places to walk around at night solo but throw this one out if you disagree, the others are not really debatable), it’s expensive, it’s always loud.
Plus, the last time I was there there was garbage EVERYWHERE. I’m not exaggerating there were piles of hundreds and hundreds of garbage bags on like every street corner. And they weren’t just there overnight, they were there for multiple days. It was quite literally a garbage city.
If NYC is your thing, more power too you. It’s definitely not for me.
Although MSG is an amazing place to see Phish (probably the best), I do not argue that at all. And I certainly think this NYE will be there (and having been to NYE runs at both MsG and Miami i think that makes sense. It’s not the same in Miami"
Cities are supposed to be dense, loud, and crowded. They're full of life and energy. Rudeness, that's just the Northeast. Expensive? True, but that's a more complex discussion. Sounds like you just don't like cities my guy"
NYC is full of some of the most genuinely friendly people who will go out of their way to help you, unlike the fake polite people in the bulk of this country. But yea, if you think it’s super rude to not wave at everyone you pass on the street, I guess you’re right.
"
I heard it explained like this once and I really liked it. West Coasters are nice but not kind. East Coasters are kind but not always nice. "
I think it was actually LA vs NY. That makes more sense.
