And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
11/30 Wolfman's vs. 11/13 Stash
[#5 vs #24] I was blown away the first time I heard this jam, and it still holds up. It's not one I turn to often, but it's one of the most unique jams in the canon. Obviously it's not for everyone, though, so can't make it too far in this tournament.
8/10 SOAMelt vs. 12/29 Tube
[#28 vs #35] A hot melt is a beautiful thing. So's a hot Tube. Top notch versions of both songs here.
12/29 DWD vs. 11/28 Ghost
[#27 vs #29] Messy exploration edges out cow funk.
7/22 DWD vs. 12/7 Tube
[#13 vs #36] Another choice Tube meets a heavyweight.
12/9 Simple vs. 8/17 2001
[#11 vs #75] Never should have been in the round robin.
7/30 Bowies vs. 12/11 Ghost
[#68 vs unranked] It's kind of annoying how many excellent jams there are in 97! Seeding was tough! Another banger missed. This is a close matchup. I love Ghost's patience up front. It's a tried and true formula, but the build in Ghost to a fiery peak never fails to satisfy. Fishman made a great call pushing the tempo right around 14:00. The reemergence of DWD is the icing on top. Yet I'm going with Bowies here. The jamming is more inventive and that deserves to be rewarded in a JOTY.
