The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Buyer beware is somewhat fitting, but does sell short the issue.
So lets begin through the list of shit to problem solve/honest questions to ask ourselves.
1) you left home
2) even if you didnt, its vegas. Are we surprised people arent being responsible?
3) to build on 2, if you have not been to halloween at the mgm before, i guess that is naïveté. The place is too hot, has terrible ventilation, and is tremendously easy to gain entry.
4) once again it is vegas and it is also phish. I love us and felt it all weekend, but it was always going to be a risk. I cannot fathom thinking or believing I wasn't taking a risk or in all honestly being rather dumb and reckless. Lets try to be honest narrators.
5) masks arent perfect. But they work. Some are better than others.
6) how diligent were you honestly?
7) how diligent were you in sharing things?
8) How diligent were your friends, roommates, neighbors, or people you shared with? Where was everyone before or after the show?
9) pick up vax bands you see on the ground. Dont share them. But we all know someone else is going to sell or share them.
9 cubes. 9 points.
TLDR:
Yes MGM security is super lax. There was an assumption of risk. We know who we are. There are reckless, selfish, indulgent behaviors out there. I mean, you did go to phish Halloween in vegas. But we can all always do better.
I love when the pot calls the kettle green.
