The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
I just remember my crew and me being confused. Like it seemed like something didn't go as planned, but we didn't know what it was. We were looking at the sky and then when we looked back at the stage the band was gone and it was over.
I remember reading some quotes from Trey later about what had gone wrong, but I don't remember and have never gone to look it up. But I do remember him talking about how taking risks means sometimes things won't work out and that was good enough for me not to worry too much about it. Definitely didn't take anything away from the weekend overall.
There hadn't been a Phish festival before so there was nothing to compare it against.
Just the fact that it was happening was amazing.
