The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Cool that the frame/brakes accept 35s!!!
Here are some pics from my pre-yemsg rides.
I brought the fixed gear because it packs down so small and does not incur any additional baggage fees, easy breakdown and setup, and I didn’t really need gears. And brakes? Who needs brakes? ;-)
Mashing all around Manhattan was super fun and exciting and a great way to explore and really *feel the city.
Then a day on River Road up the Hudson was the perfect juxtaposition- just so gorgeous and serene.
That day was supposed to be the solo century but I had a mechanical issue. On a fixie??? Yep. I crushed a pretty good climb and when I topped out it felt like there was an issue with my clipless.
Tried to unclip and my whole crank fell off lol!!!
And that’s a wrench I, or pretty much anyone, don’t carry.
Walked, coasted, one leg pedaled, to a spot where I could LYFT to a bike shop and then rode back to the city. So 100 turned into 30 but whatevz, it was a great day.
