It wasn’t really a jam though and was able to come right back into the standard, wasn’t overindulgent in scope, and didn’t borrow from any recycled improv elements that can sound stale at times.

I enjoyed it for what it was. As long as it doesn’t happen so frequently in other fixed compositions that it sounds forced or gimmicky I just look at it as one of those fun moments that gives a show something else to reference it by

I disagree - they totally jammed it. Departure from the structure, particularly one from which deviation is never observed, is jamming. But that's just me. The fact that we're talking about it means they jammed it. It's not a matter of degree, really. Again, that's just me.
