And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
I decided to go up there last minute after LA. Had an extra day before I flew out anyways, so I booked a cheap air bnb and drove up. Found a guy selling a ticket for face, said he’d meet me at the gate to exchange money/ticket. I show up, 300 wooks with fingers in the air. Guy obviously found a better offer, or gave it to a friend. He blocked my number. Kind of shitty night after that. Saved it a bit by walking back to my car in the high school parking lot. I could see the band from the side and hear pretty well. Listened to a good bit of 2nd set and made it back to my place.
Santa Barbara was beautiful, but man, that’s just too small of a venue.
