The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
i've been consistently listening to a Phish show almost every single day for a few months now and i've heard a TON more shows since this thread was created.
At the time ruby created this thread i just found shows by scrolling through the RYM phish profile and listening to shows that had good ratings, but after some time i started browsing .net to find new shows (either seeing the top rated shows or lurking forum threads, i didn't make an account after like a month though)
Gonna talk about what i've heard in chronological order now:
1991-93: As ruby previously mentioned here, i've heard 29/11/92, which was pretty cool but I've also heard all the NYE runs from 92 to 93 and 31/12/91 as well (I wanted to listen to every NYE run, never got around to finish that though) and i really really loved it
1994: 94 is one of the years I've heard the most shows of, i've listened to 07/05 (tweezerfest) as well as a few shows from the summer tour. I also was planning on listening to some more shows from fall, and i obviously listened to 29/12 to check out that Bowie, really enjoyed all of these shows. also the halloween show of course, which i considered my favorite show for some time after i listened to it but tbh i don't think i have a favorite now
1995: I was planning on listening to a lot of 95 when i was done marathoning 94, but for now i've just heard 31/12, which i listened to last night (i know it's weird that ive heard this show this far into them since it's one of their most popular but it isn't on spotify here in spain so it took me some time to finally listen to it)
1996: i've heard the clifford ball, halloween show and 6/12 and i loved all of them. halloween show is definitely in my top 5 favorite shows of all time and 6/12 has my favorite mike's groove so far (mainly because of the simple and the weekapaug groove, love them so much). clifford ball was ofc a really good time too
1997: the year i've heard the most of, i've heard all of the amsterdam and hampton/winston-salem shows, the great went, 10/8, 11/12, 29/12, 30/12 and as ruby previously mentioned 17/11 (i have to give that one a relisten though). All of the stuff i've heard from this year is great, my personal favorites are the went n1 and the first amsterdam show. The went gin was my favorite jam for a while until i listened to 19/6/04 (i'll get to that later though)
1998: other than the island tour, i listened to the two gorge shows, 8/8 and lemonwheel. Lemonwheel n1 is kind of a comfort show for me, i've come back to it a lot but my favorites from this year so far really are the two island tour nassau shows
2000: i've heard as you already know fukuoka, but from the japan tour i've also listened to 15/6 which is probably my favorite from the three shows i've heard from this year and it also has my favorite Ghost. other than that i've also heard 14/9 which was incredible too, im def gotta listen to other stuff from this year in the future
2003: from the spring tour i've heard 20/2 and 28/2, which were really f***ing good, specially 28/2 (i come back to the tweezer and gin from that show a lot). and i've heard IT, 15/7 and 30/7 as well. I loved all of them, IT n1 is growing on me a lot lately and it might top 3 shows for me, and i really need to give 30/7 a relisten
2004: from this year i've only heard 19/6, which is a GREAT show and its piper is def my favorite phish jam of all time and one of my favorite moments in music history, it's incredible
2014-15: i've heard 27/07/14, which i liked just as much as the 94 tweezerfest, and also magnaball which i thought was incredible. magnaball n1 and n2 are also up there as two of my favorite shows of all time
2017-21: from 2017 i've only heard 25/7 and 26/7 which i loved, i'll def listen to the entirety of the baker's dozen soon.
from 2019 i've only heard 14/7 which i DEFINITELY need to relisten because i found it kinda boring when i listened to it for the first time, i enjoyed the ruby waves but as a whole the show didn't keep me as engaged as others. it was my first 2010s show and now that i've heard more from this decade i think i'll appreciate it way more.
from 2021 i listened to the entire fall vegas run. The numbers show might be contender for my favorite show of all time, i come back to it fairly often and i was just jaw dropping all the way through when i listened to it. The rest of the shows were also really cool, and it was a run i enjoyed a lot (except the second set from the halloween show it was way too long it bored me a little bit but i still enjoyed the show as a whole)
2023: haven't heard anything from spring yet, but i've been following the summer tour and im up to date with it (except for syracuse and the two star lake shows, i'll listen to those when the msg run is over) and i enjoy it a lot. Also MFMF is one of my very personal favorite Phish songs so it's nice to see it getting jammed twice here.
I've heard some of the shows you guys recommended here but I also haven't heard a lot of them, so i'll put them all on my backlog! thx for the recs. Feel free to send me some more shows that i haven't heard, even though i've already heard a lot i'm always open for recommendations at any time
Also i'm sorry if the way i write is a bit messy sometimes, english is not my first language and i'm not 100% good at it and i've probably made some mistakes considering this post is pretty huge
