The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
- 8/25 Wave of Hope; WOPE (are we calling it WOPE?) crossed the threshold that ER did around 2019: Every time this song is played it goes deep and long. At some point, every WOPE that goes deep and long can't go on the jam charts. I'm loath to post a HIMYM gif, but:
If every WOPE jam charts, then what makes a WOPE jam chart worthy? There have been so many good versions of this song played since its debut. They can't all chart. For the moment, this one isn't there. That certainly doesn't mean it won't be in the future. The WOPE competition is stiff.
- 8/31 Tweezer; What is unique about this jam? What merits charting outside of "Well, shouldn't every 20+ minute jam chart?" This is disjointed and seems like they are making it long for making it long's sake more than any cohesion between the band. They lock in at the end for some chunky jamming before playing going back into Tweezer, but even that isn't novel. Don't get me wrong, I love to be at shows where 20+ minute jams are played, but there are so many good Tweezers and, to me, this one doesn't measure up to the high bar set for the Tweezer chart.
