The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Considering it’s taboo to call out capitalism, I’m willing to pay whatever greedy profit margins the unfettered capitalist pirates force us to pay. We have other options but again, let other things interfere; that should be regulated, it’s taboo to question what is ethically right vs wrong. Things are completely different today, compared to a 18th century widget 101 economic school lecture.
Yet, no one empathizes the ever-expanding economic wealth disparity,. The best anyone does is barely define the issue and pretend they have no solutions. That’s the overarching problem within our government. Always keep the poor just stupid and hungry enough; to focus on those things.
