The Mockingbird Foundation
The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we’re entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we’ve distributed over $1,000,000 to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.

Wake up to some Johnny Cash at 9am -
Johnny Cash don't smoke hash
He's out there lying on the track
Johnny Cash is on that train
And he ain't never coming back
Sunday, November 10, 2024 - 12:00am to Monday, November 11, 2024 - 11:59pm
WKCR is very excited to announce the return of our fabled 48-hour Country Music Festival this upcoming weekend. Pre-empting all regular programming for Sunday and Monday, this festival will give listeners the opportunity to dive deep into the varied and rich traditions of country music. Being one of only a few tri-state area stations that honors traditional, eccentric, or less-heard country styles, we are more than proud to put this festival on and to have a bigger opportunity to play a variety of the music that the country genre has to offer.
Instead of putting on a themed festival as we have done in some years past, this year the festival will be diverse, with each three hour slot having its own distinct theme picked in coordination between the station and the individual programmers. The festival will include genre-based shows with focuses on Religious Country, Outlaw Country, and Alt-Country, profile shows on artists such as Johnny Cash, Roy Acuff, and Hank Williams, themed shows looking into such things as country songs about marriage and divorce, children of country, and black country artists, and many more.
Listeners can tune in on 89.9FM or stream the festival live on our website, wkcr.org. Follow WKCR on Instagram @wkcr) and Twitter @WKCRFM) for updates about this special broadcast and future events. As always, online listening is available 24/7 at wkcr.org via our web stream.
